Week Wrap Up

So it has been more than a week but I will bring you up to date as much as I can remember.  LOL First...  I was able to get the stain out.  Still waiting on my beads to come in from 123stitch.  It is on back order until April 23rd now.  UGH.  I may have to find it somewhere else.

I am startingll to prep for Stitching Maynia in May.  I will be sharing my plans soon. But I thinking about a start a week.
I am so excited I joined my first monthly club. Colour & Cotton.... I am in love with this piece of fabric called Seashell.

Now into my current stitching.  I joined the mystery stitch a long by Owl Forest Embroidery.  I am in love with this pattern idea.  When I was younger, every year me and my sister would watch "The Wizard of Oz" and have a huge bowl of popcorn. We would stay up past our bedtime.  I love these flashbacks of my youth.  So this is just a small start but I am getting there.

Next I have been working on "Children Need..."  I know I say this a lot but I love it!!!  I am in search for a couple Just Another Button Company buttons.  I want 3 birds to represent my children and a dragonfly also.
So this is not stitching related but....my book came in the mail today.  I will be digging into this very soon.

Of course I have also been binge watching Flosstube.  I thinking about starting my own also.   Who knows....

So I am off.... Have a great week and enjoy your stitching time.

People's Choice...Speciality Stitches

Hello...I am little late but on the first Saturday of the month I participate in a blog SAL.  The People's Choice is where we are given a topic to explore.  If you would like to check out the others that are doing this along with me you can go here.

The topic for the month of April is....Speciality Stitches

One of the first series I stitched were these monthly banners that had a speciality stitch on everyone.  I made them and gave them to my mom.  She has since passed away but my father asked if he could still display them.  So that was a solid yes, if he remembers to change them out every month they are still there for his enjoyment.  I do not have a picture to share with you at this time though.  Sorry.

The next thing that came to mind that I have stitched with speciality stitches are my needle rolls by Shepherds Bush.  I have 3 fully finished and 2 more that I am slowly working on.  I love these little projects!!!

I wish I could say I love all speciality stitches but I still can not master the french knot....ugh I usually will place a bead on the chart for this stitch.

I hope you enjoyed this quick little post.  I so love these topics every month.  Have a great week and happy stitching....

March WIPocalypse

Hey its the last Sunday of the month and that means I get to check in with my SAL for WIPocalypse.  For information about this fun SAL you can check it out here.  And here is a link if you would like to see others that are participating in this months check in.  This month we were doing an additional challenge of one stitch a day on a focus project.  I chose my Little Stitching Fairy.  This is what she looked like at the beginning of the month.
For me it was fun to dive in and once I got started I was kindof driven to see how far I could get on her this month.  I still finished my 2 little monthly series I do every month but I am blown away with how far I have gotten on my Stitching Fairy. I unfortunately i got a stain on this corner of this piece I am trying to get out so we will see how that goes.

One of the fun things about this monthly SAL is we have the option to answer a question each month.  Here is the question for this month.  *** What newer designers and product creators (fabric or floss dyeing, etc) out there have you discovered and recommend?

I have discovered many new designers but they are really just new to me.  With Thy Needle and Thread, Drawn Thread, Carriage House Sampling, Country Cottage Needleworks, Little House Needleworks, and Silver Creek Sampling.  I have really enjoyed collecting some patterns!!!  I will see how and when I can fit them into my stitching.  I really want to get to the point that I am stitching on more than one piece at a time.

Well until next time...keep enjoying your stitching.

March Small Finish SAL

The Small Finish SAL is a fun little stitch a long that encourages us to have a finish every month.  You can check the other folks out here to see their finishes.  It also introduces me to other designs I want.  LOL  (like I need them!!!)

I am happy to report that I have 2 small finishes this month.  I have two different series that I am doing monthly for decorations in my house  First, I have A Year of Celebration March.  I changed it up a little but I am very happy with it.

The second on I have finished is March for Stoney Creek Quote of the Month series.

I love working on these small patterns.  I have figured out as you can see how I want to display the top pattern.  I am still trying to figure out how I want to fully finish the Stoney Creek pattern.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for stopping by seeing my Small SAL.

Week Wrap Up

Okay so its been 2 weeks but I promise I have been stitching....  We just had a couple life events get in the way.

Stitching first.....  in one of my SAL's we are doing a commitment of one stitch a day on a focus project.  I chose The Little Stitching Fairy, here is my update I am working hard to finish.

First picture is the start of the month then second picture was taken yesterday for an update.

The life event that kindof stopped me from blogging last week was......We got a new puppy.

Meet Gabi....  She was born on Jan. 10th and she is full German Shepherd.  This was taken on her ride home.  We are relearning the struggles of having a puppy but she is so worth it.  I am adding another picture of her today.  She is already getting bigger.

So we bid you a good week and wish you happy stitching!!!!

Week Wrap Up

I took an extra day off from work and enjoyed a much needed long weekend.  I have accomplished a lot of stitching and a few other fun projects.

This month a blog I follow is doing a focus cross stitch project basically...I pick a project, do one stitch a day.  But this usually leads to more stitching on it.  My choice is The Little Stitching Fairy.

March 1

March 10
Then yesterday my sister came over, we did some fabric dying and of course stitching.

Here is a sample of the fabrics...  I love how these turned out.  I will be doing this again.  I did try ice dying but that was a fail and I didn't save that piece.

I have a new start using one of these pieces of fabric.
Children Needs...

I felt the desire to do a little work on my Butterfly Afghan.  I finished up the word on one square.

Then today is my last day off of work, I did a little run to Michaels.  I am trying to help my house move into spring.  I made this tulip wreath that was inspired from Priscilla of The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch.

Lastly the mail came today when I was typing this up and my order from 123 Stitch came so here is my  stitchy mail.  Yes, Flosstube does cause me a few problems...

It feels so good to have the sun shining and the feeling that spring is right around the corner.  So until next time keep on stitching.

March FFG

I am so excited that I get to participate in the FFG.  The FFG is short for Fully Finished Gallery which is a SAL that is being hosted. You can check out others here.

I get to share pictures of the cross stitch finishes I have finally got the courage to fully finish.  I have recently became addicted to FlossTube and that is were I get some inspiration.

I have a goal to knock out many old finishes along with keeping up with new ones I am stitching.

Lets start out the "A Year of Celebration"...I love stitching these I have made a few tweeks basicly where I have made mistakes.
Then I have some oldie but goodies to share.  I stitched these in 2006-2007...then they sat in a box until Flosstube!!!

That is it for cross stitch fully finished but the next picture are some project bags I whipped up last weekend.

So that would be a count of 7 fully finihed pieces and 4 project bags.  Yay!!!!  Happy Dance!!!  Once again I am loving this community I have been blessed with finding.

Butterfly Afghan

I want to share the story behind my stitching project "Butterfly Afghan".

Back in 2006, I saw the first ad for this upcoming series in the Stoney Creek Collections Magazine.  I knew I had to have it...  So I collected all the magazines that year, then for Christmas my mom gifted me the afghan.  I just stored it away but knew someday I would get to it.

With the passing of my mom in November 2017.  It was such a shock, leaving a huge hole in my heart along with my life.  She was my best friend, I would talk to her every day.  During that first year, my sisters and I divided up her cross stitch projects and some of her charts.  It was around then that I restarted stitching on a more regular bases.

So at the end of 2018, I started thinking about what I was planning to stitch in 2019.  I came upon the afghan....  It may sound weird to some but I just felt the love of my mom when I held that afghan.  I kitted it up and actually started stitching on in Dec 23, 2018.

My goal was to finish it in 2019....  I was moving along on the blocks and loved stitching on it but then something happened and I didn't want to make it a goal anymore.  I just want to enjoy stitching it and think of my mom as I do.  (Not make it a race... just feel the love and enjoy.)  So I have taken it off the goal list.  If you knew me that in itself is a challenge for me because I am very goal driven.

I know when I have it finished I will be able to wrap myself in that afghan feeling her love and connection.  It will forever have a special meaning to me. I am always looking for signs from mom so I can feel her with me on this amazing journey we call life.

Week Wrap Up

Okay so really this is a two week update.... time is really flying by.  I would love to say I have been doing amazing things, but truly I am just working and doing mom duties.

So getting the boys from track practice daily, taking my daughter for a prom dress fitting, and trying to pull off dinner for them. LOL Okay a couple times the kids had to pull off food on their own.

I have been getting some stitching done at work everyday.  I had this quick finish this week though it was a little stubborn... It was a free design from Brooke's Books Publishing here scroll past the alphabet then you should find it.

I also had a finish that has been in my stash for years.  It is a limited edition Lizzie Kate pattern.

I am looking forward to the month of March, I am participating in a stitching challenge that WIPocalypse is holding where we put in one stitch a day as a minimum so here is where I am starting at....

A couple other updates I want to share are I am addicted to these project bags that I have learned to make thanks to the help of a friend and YouTube. I have 10 of them now but here are my latest ones.

And lastly today I did some fully finishes I am giving you a sneak peek because I will be posting all my fully finishes this next weekend.  I have had this set stitched and sitting in a box since 2006-2007, but here is one.

I have build my confidence from seeing other finishes and watching The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch Priscilla & Chelsea on YouTube.  Lastly, just to leave you with a tease my sister and I are going to do some fabric dying next weekend to stay tuned.
